Taurus, the bull! Well, this sign is known for being a little… well… chubby. But don’t worry Taurus, we’re here to help you out. Read on below and learn about some of the best ways for you to lose weight in a healthy way that will last long-term so that your new body sticks around even after summer ends.
To lose weight, a Taurus should not go on any crash diets or cleanses. These are impossible to keep up. To achieve long-term fitness, a Taurus should instead focus on eating healthy foods that help them lose weight in a sustainable way. As for exercise, less intense forms are better for Taurus. This includes yoga, swimming, dancing and walking.
But of course, I want to make sure everyone knows that losing weight is a very personal journey. There isn’t any one specific way or plan because each person has their own goals and needs when they’re trying to slim down. What works for one person might not work at all for another.
Let’s dive a bit deeper into how to lose weight, why it’s important for you to do so and the different methods that are out there.
It’s (pretty much) all about food
For most people, the answer to losing weight is all about what they eat.
Exercise can help you get fitter once you are already reasonably lean, but it doesn’t necessarily help you lose weight directly. Exercise can increase appetite and leave you feeling hungrier.
Also, intense exercise can increase cortisol levels which can lead to weight gain.
As you might know, stress raises your cortisol levels and that is a known cause of putting on the pounds around your tummy area (which would make sense as this is where most people store their extra fat). So while exercise might help with keeping fit once you’ve already lost some weight, it’s not a great way to directly lose weight.
Finally, even if you managed to lose any significant weight using exercise alone, sooner or later something is going to come up where you can’t exercise as much or at all, and all that weight will come back.
This is why it’s so important to focus on what you eat and what signals you’re sending to your body, because this can be maintained throughout your entire life rather than just a certain period of time or specific season (like summer).
Here’s the problem: Tauruses are foodies
Tauruses love food. They are true gourmands.
This is generally great but it can become a problem when you start to notice the scale creeping up.
It’s time to kick those bad habits! Here are some tips on how to lose weight while still enjoying your food (yes, this is actually possible).
So how do you solve this?
1. First of all: don’t skip meals… or snacks!
Skipping meals is a bad idea. It might seem like it makes sense to skip breakfast or lunch so that you can have more food for dinner, but this actually backfires because your metabolism slows right down as soon as you don’t eat anything and then when the time comes to finally eat something all those hours later, Taurus will feel ravenous (and will probably eat way too much).
Also, don’t skip snacks. Snacking is a good thing because it helps keep your body’s metabolism going and keeps you from feeling hungry all the time. Don’t be afraid to snack!
2. Don’t go on extreme diets… like ever!
Taurus shouldn’t even consider any kind of fad diet. Taurus needs to remember that when you’re on a diet, you’re essentially telling your body that it’s not good enough and doesn’t have the right kind of food (or too much food). This means that for most people following an extreme diet like this will only lead to weight gain later down the line as their cortisol levels spike and they stress about how much weight they’ve gained.
3. Reduce the amount of added sugar in your food, as well as empty carbs.
If you’re going to have some kind of dessert, try and make it something that doesn’t come out of a box (i.e., donuts, cakes). These kinds of foods are loaded with refined sugars which increase your weight gain.
4. Focus on healthy, whole, natural foods
Basically the opposite of fast food. Fast food is full of empty calories which means that your body doesn’t get any nutrients from them so you just end up feeling hungry again after a short time.
5. Consider trying a more natural diet such as Paleo or Whole30
These kinds of diets can be of great help because they create a system where you only eat whole, natural foods. This means that as a Taurus you can’t really go wrong because they’re eating real food instead of processed junk.
6. Find alternatives
Instead of trying to simply cut out certain foods, try replacing them with healthier alternatives. For instance, if you have a craving for chips try replacing them with carrots or cucumbers instead! Need something sweet? Berries, dates and other dried fruit are a great alternative to ice cream and desserts.
7. Finally: don’t be afraid to treat yourself sometimes
… and not just on special occasions either (though these are good too). It’s important to remember that Taurus is a sign of indulgence so it makes sense that when you do decide to have a treat, you should really enjoy it.
Don’t avoid your cravings or try and starve yourself because when Taurus does finally get some food in their hands they’ll eat way too much of it all at once and then feel bad about themselves afterwards.
Exercise
Change you eating habits first, but then also focus on exercise.
Exercise sends a signal to your body that things are changing and that it needs to get in shape, so you’re basically tricking your body into getting healthier.
Here’s the problem:
High intensity exercises don’t work well for Tauruses
Remember: Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, a symbol of beauty and grace.
This means that Taurus shouldn’t be putting themselves through too much pain during exercise. It just doesn’t work for them. High intensity exercise just isn’t graceful or luxurious.
Remember, you’re not trying to use exercise as a way to “burn off calories”, you’re doing it to tone and strengthen your body while signalling to yourself that you are an active person who feels good when they’re lean.
Let’s look at some options that may work very well for you.
Yoga
Not only is yoga a great way to tone your body, but it also helps you relax and connect with yourself in ways that are more spiritual than physical. Yoga requires patience and that’s something that Taurus has in spades. It’s not something that can be completed overnight, but is a long and slow process of self-discovery (which again makes it perfect for your sign).
Yoga also helps you to develop strength without the need for heavy weights or machines so it will help tone your muscles while giving them a break from the constant strain of more intense forms of exercise.
Swimming
Again, this is another low-impact form of exercise that won’t cause Taurus any undue pain or discomfort. Swimming takes away a lot the pressure from your joints and muscles while still allowing you to feel like you’ve accomplished something without having to do an intensive activity (less time in the gym means more time for you).
Swimming also allows Taurus to feel like they are surrounded by water which is a great way to calm them down.
Walking
The outdoors is a great place for Taurus. It’s full of natural beauty and the gentle sounds of the birds, bees and wind rustling through trees.
Walking is also one of those exercises that doesn’t require any special equipment or location so it’s easy to fit into your daily routine (or do at random times).
Taking some time, like 30 minutes to an hour, out of your day to go on a brisk walk. If you find yourself breathing more heavily than usually, you’re doing it right.
Dancing
Dancing is a great way to let loose and feel good which, for Taurus, are two things that they need in order to relax. Taurus is great at moving with their body so this can be an excellent way for them to lose weight in a fun and healthy way.
Dancing doesn’t require a partner so you can dance by yourself or with friends, either way it’s an easy and enjoyable activity that will help Taurus lose weight without feeling like they’re going through intense pain.
Hey, Taurus men! Dancing works for you too, not just for women!
More intense types of exercise
However, if you’re going to do high intensity exercises like running then make sure you have enough rest days in between. Remember, Taurus recovers quickly but if you keep taxing your body too much then it will take longer for them to recover which means exercise can become a chore rather than something that they enjoy and want to do regularly (which is the opposite of what we’re trying to achieve here).
